alt Vets for Peace, Chapter 54, Friday, Mar. 20, SBCC West Campus lawn, across from the campus library overlooking Ledbetter Beach on the Pacific Ocean. Tombstones were set up by volunteers. Staff, students & visitors passing by on the walkway between the East& West campuses were asked to come down on the lawn to place a placard of the colored photo & information of a teen casualty from the Iraq & Afghanistan Conflicts, on the 312 available tombstones.
Close to 100 participants visited the mock cemetery throughout the day. Information about the cost of war and the immediate withdrawal of all troops & occupation from Iraq, Afghanistan & Palestine were shared. A petition to Close Down the School of the Americas was available for signing and will be sent to President Obama. KCSB FM radio station from UCSB made a telephone interview about the event earlier in the week. SBCC Media Students took interviews and film of the event for a forth coming documentation. SBCC Channels newspaper reporters covered the event for the next edition of the paper.
